Aston Villa 1 West Brom 1

DARREN BENT leapt off the bench to steal a vital point for struggling Aston Villa.

The England striker was dropped by boss Paul Lambert who preferred Belgian new-boy Christian Benteke up front.
But after Villa fell behind to Shane Long's 51st-minute strike, Lambert turned to his star striker.
And after just 12 minutes on the pitch, Bent fired past West Brom keeper Ben Foster to level the score.
He could have won it but fired over from long range in the closing stages.

A point maintained Albion's fine start to the campaign - 11 points from six games.
